in a tragic turn of events, armed clashes erupt in kenyira in Mugwo payam as forces from the SPLM IO launched an attack on the Government forces which resulted in the loss of 8 lives with an additional 22 government soldiers wounded. it was a fierce attack in that eye witnesses reported heavy gunfire and explosions as the two factions engaged in fierce combat. sources confirmed that the attack took government forces by surprise. Kenyira was an area that was initially occupied or under the control of the SPLM iO before the Government dislodged them. Mugwo payam is one of the most insecure payams in Yei River County.
