This rumour is confirmed false
and is of medium priority
– here's why:
Tana River County was marked by veterinary department as one of the areas prone to Rift Valley fever disease and the government imposed a ban on trade in animal products in the County. Several cases were reported in the area of animals dying mysteriously that were highly suspected to have been infected with the deadly fever. This is what led to suspicions and unfounded allegations against the IDPs as the IDPs are seen by the residents of different villages where they have settled as opportunists and resource competitors.
